HELSINKI - The Florida Panthers Randy Sexton, the team, the Director General on Friday, promoting the man responsible for many offseason moves of the club.
The announcement was made in Helsinki, when the Panthers beat Chicago in shootout to 4.3 in their opening season. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
The 50-year-old Sexton joined the organization in January 2007 and had previously served as assistant GM of Florida. He led the team negotiating the contracts, scouting, player development and administration after Jacques Martin left to coach the Canadiens in Montreal in June.
During his tenure with the Panthers Sexton has limited the club sign free agents, such as helped center Stephen Weiss and David Booth left a six-year contract extension this summer, agrees.
Sacristan also contributed to ink deals with Florida goalie Scott Clemmensen, veteran center Steve Reinprecht and defender Jordan Leopold this offseason.
"In the last two seasons, our club successfully re-signing many of our core players multi-years contracts, although many have bought high character, hard free agents who have contributed to our identity as a team and framework for success, "Sexton said in a statement. "We made significant progress over the past two seasons and our fans should be excited about our team."
Martin, after he left for Montreal in the first place team president of Florida Bill Torrey, the general research manager led Panthers. Martin has been Director General of the Panthers' in the last three seasons and coach 2004-08.
Sexton also for eight years with the Ottawa Senators, where he served as president, CEO and Director General, while the foundations for the future success of the team.
Yormark said Panthers President Michael Stadler is the game "single perfect", as general manager.
"Randy has all the qualities necessary for a successful general manager of the National Hockey League and I have a very good job over the past two seasons in the training of our team through the draft, free agency and trades soon," said Yormark. "He has a vast knowledge of our entire organization, and we are confident that, along with head coach Pete DeBoer, our association is well positioned for success."
